Marinara Sauce

The addition of garlic, olive oil and oregano give this sauce great depth. We love to use it on our Detroit-style pizzas.

Ingredients

Makes
800g (28oz) (enough for about 10 pizzas)
  • 800g tinned whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2g flaky sea salt
  • 30ml olive oil
  • 12g garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

Prevent your screen from going dark as you follow along.

Step 1

Remove and discard the cores from the tomatoes and place the tomatoes into a bowl, reserving the tomato juice left in the tin.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, add the salt, olive oil, garlic and oregano to the reserved tomato juice and use an immersion blender to blend until smooth.

Step 3

Pulse-blend the cored tomatoes until they are well blended but still with a little texture, then stir the tomato juice into the pulsed tomatoes.
